"Seven generations have succeeded each other on his fertile lands on the banks of the Ardèche. At the beginning of the year, the famous Colombier estate became Walbaum, with a major wine tourism project in Vallon-Pont-d’Arc (South Ardèche). The path leading to the immense house gives a taste of the beauty that is advancing. A long road like the history of the Walbaum/Claron family, established on these lands since the early nineteenth century.

Since the beginning of the year, the wine heritage of the Colombier estate has changed its name to Walbaum, the one currently worn by Ludovic, heir of the estate since 2000. After a widely asserted approach, that of wine tourism, by changing the name, the estate also turns to organic farming. I kept only twelve hectares of vines out of the 65 that the estate counts. My goal will not be to make quantity but to believe in youth, the attraction of our beautiful Ardèche. Everything will be ready for the vinification of the 2022 vintage.” Beyond the wine, truffle oaks, fields of lavender and olive trees will embellish the place.

But the first major event of the Walbaum estate is scheduled for Easter 2021. Formerly family home, a four-star hotel, the center of gravity of the estate, will open its doors with integrated restaurant. Twelve rooms and soon a family suite will be born after two years of work. With a view of the river, Chauvet 2 – Ardèche and Vallon-Pont-d'Arc cave, as well as for his wine, Ludovic Walbaum and his wife Chloëe embark on a huge challenge. It’s about bringing quality and family history together.”
